Marjorie E Barth, age 88, of Chili passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2025, with family by her side.  She had recently been in the care of the amazing staff at House of the Dove in Marshfield.

Marjorie was born July 2nd, 1937 in City Point, Jackson County to Milburn & Hazel (Chapel) Galbreath.  Margie attended grade schools in Clark County, graduating from Granton High School in 1954, and worked at General Telephone Company following graduation.  She married her best friend James W Barth on April 7th, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church in Nasonville.  Jim was in the U.S. Navy at the time of their marriage and Margie joined him in Boston, MA where Jim was stationed at the time, and later transferred to Norfolk, VA.  After Jim’s discharge, they came back to Wisconsin to farm and raise their family.

Jim & Margie farmed in the Town of Lynn & Town of Fremont, with Margie working at Weyerhauser Co. for many years to help out.  In 1992 they sold the farm in Town of Lynn and built their new home on the land in Town of Fremont where Jim & his siblings were born.  She then worked for Lynn Dairy until ill health in 2010.

Marjorie is survived by two children, Michael (Dee) Barth of Onalaska and Sandra (Terry) Schmitz of Granton.  She was a devoted Grandma to five grandchildren:  Nathan (Tanya) Barth, Marshfield; Tara (Michael) Kamien, League City, TX; Kortney (Alex) Folk, Chili; Logan (Hali) Schmitz, Granton; Nicholas Schmitz, Granton and one step grandson Travis Norling, Warren, NJ.  She was a loving Great Grandma, “the one that bakes us cookies” to ten great grandchildren: Kaitlen & Lukas Barth, Colton, Lawson & Garrett Kamien, Kora, Adeline & Jerome Folk, and Tobin & Tessa Schmitz, and Baby Schmitz coming in December.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews to whom she will always be Auntie Margie.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, step father Herbert Braun, sister & husband Gwendolyn & George Carstensen; brothers in law Robert Barth, Raymond & Shirley Barth; sisters in law Norma & Harold Vandenbergen, Mae & Carl Revak, step brothers Douglas and Neal Braun; and step grandson Troy Norling.

James & Marjorie were members of Zion American Lutheran Church, W2840 Hill Rd, Granton where services will be held for both on Friday, January 2, 2026 with Pastor Bob Garbisch officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:30 to time of funeral service at 11:00, followed by military honors at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Neillsville Veteran’s Council.    Inurnment will be at Town of Lynn Cemetery for immediate family later that day.

In leu of flowers, memorials can be given to Ronald McDonald House, 803 W. North St., Marshfield, WI, 54456 or Children’s Miracle Network, 611 St. Joseph’s Ave., Marshfield, WI  54449.  Children meant everything to dad & mom.

Our family wishes to express our sincere & deepest gratitude to the loving & dedicated staff of Compassus Hospice.  We thank our home hospice nurses Amy & Maranna and the beautiful heroes that walked those halls at House of the Dove.  Thank you to Beth, Kristin, Amanda, Liz, Grace, Toni, Geri, Tara, Carri, Carmen, & Chaplan Kristen. Thank you to Lisa for your many home visits to mom, and apologies to anyone whom we may have missed.  You all made this last battle bearable for our sweet mom.  It takes a special person to work hospice services, and God sent these angels to be there for our family.

Jim & Margie both enjoyed nature and country life and felt Wisconsin farmland was as beautiful as it gets.  They enjoyed the company of their family and that of many friends – both young and old, always there to help whenever needed.  Their friends and entire family meant everything to them both and they took great pride in their family.  They held highest priorities in the joys of life, both absolutely beaming at the births of their grandchildren & great grandchildren.  From the joy on their faces at a wedding or the huge smile & pride at a big buck shot, they were always there for all of us.  Whether the title was Dad & Mom, Grandpa & Grandma, Great Grandpa & Grandma or Uncle Jimmy & Aunt Margie, the love and respect of the family was theirs.  They will be dearly missed by so many, but the memories & love they showed us all will live on in the hearts of our family; and we hold that love tight until we see them both again.  Rest easy Mom & Dad, we got this from here.  We pray we do you proud.
