Duane Stutte

DUANE F. STUTTE, age 91, of Waukesha, WI, entered eternal life on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at Angel's Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal, WI. Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh will officiate, and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Dan Sterwald, Scott Sterwald, Kevin Sterwald, Logan Stutte, Keaton Stutte, and Tyler Hoeffner. Military rites will be conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30am until time of service.
Duane Frederich Stutte was born on May 24, 1934, in Loyal, WI, to Florence Othelia (née Dyre) and Hugo Frederich Stutte, Duane graduated from Loyal High School in 1952. Following graduation, he worked in a local cheese factory before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. After completing his military service, Duane attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison. On June 20, 1957, Duane married his high school sweetheart, Margie Ann (née Haas). Together, they farmed the Haas family farm from 1957 until their retirement in 1991. Duane and Margie made their home in Oconomowoc, WI and eventually moved to Waukesha, WI.
A lifelong Wisconsin Badgers fan, Duane rarely missed a football game and loved cheering on his team. He and Margie shared a love of travel, exploring many parts of the world together. Above all, Duane will be remembered for being a supportive husband, father, and Poppy to his grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be greatly missed.
He was a member of the Loyal American Legion.
Duane will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Margie, of Waukesha; three daughters: Lorilee Stutte of Waukesha, Cynthia (David) Champa of Alqonquin, IL, Constance Sterwald of Waukesha; his daughter-in-law, Michelle Stutte of Medford, WI; his sister, Nan Jean Koch of Belvidere, IL; 12 grandchildren: Claire (Carl) Bernahl of McHenry, IL, Daniel (Felicia) Sterwald of Denver CO, Tia (Tyler) Hoeffner of Waukesha, Scott Sterwald of Oconomowoc, Teresa Champa of Denver, CO, Kevin Sterwald of Waukesha, Allissa Stutte of Bayfield, WI, Colleen (Alex) Mikolajewski of Cary, IL, Jenna (Teodoro) Stutte of Medford, Emily Champa of Cary, IL, Logan Stutte of Columbus, OH, and Keaton Stutte of Kronenwetter, WI; six great-grandchildren: Olivia, Henri, Raegan, Robert, Elouise, and Carter; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Stutte; his parents; and his brother, Terrance Stutte.
