Sharon Ann McConnell was born on August 15, 1938 in Marshfield, WI, the daughter of James H. and Lucille M. (Prock) McConnell.  She was raised and received her education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1956.  After high school, Sharon went on to Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI, where she majored in History and minored in English.  She was a member of the Home Economics Club, and was initiated into Phi Alpha Theta, National History Honor Society on October 14, 1959.

Sharon was united in marriage on August 5, 1961, to Leland D. Mayenschein at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood.  They later divorced.  Sharon later met Richard Houston and they enjoyed many years traveling throughout the U.S. from their home base of Apache Junction, AZ.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, WI.  Sharon had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking and baking, crocheting, reading, playing cards and BINGO, traveling, camping, animal watching, sports, picnics at the beach, and she was the ultimate dog whisperer.

She will be dearly missed by three children: Mark (Rosanne) Mayenschein of Helenville, WI, Paul (Jennifer) of Luxemburg, WI, Lynn (Chris) Harrington of Willard; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Terry (Linda) McConnell of Eleva, WI and Pat (Sherrie) McConnell of Neillsville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her sister: Kathleen (Pat) Worth of Cedarburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society on Sharon’s behalf.
