Erland Greeler

Erland Ronald Greeler, 93, of Neillsville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 2, 2026, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.

Erland was born to Erwin and Lorena Greeler on April 23, 1932, in the town of York in Neillsville. He attended Happy Hollow School, St. John's Lutheran School, and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1950. He then attended the Farm Short Course in Madison. He was drafted into the Army in 1952 and served in Korea until 1954 when he was honorably discharged. He then farmed his entire life on the family farm. In 2002, the farm was recognized as a Century Farm, and in 2009, the farm hosted the Neillsville Dairy Breakfast. In 2014, he and his granddaughter, Elizabeth, had the privilege of flying to Washington D.C. on the Never Forgotten Honor Flight.

He enjoyed dancing at the Silver Dome Dance Hall where he met his future wife, Velda Levanduske. They were married October 26, 1963, and recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed square dancing, traveling, bowling, playing cards, putting puzzles together, and watching the Badgers, Packers, Bucks, and Brewers.

He belonged to the Wisconsin Farmers Union, the American Legion, and the Neillsville FFA. In 2007, he was on the committee for developing the Korean War Veterans Tribute at the Highground in Neillsville. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Neillsville and sang in the choir.

Erland is survived by his wife, Velda; four children: Wayne (Marie) Greeler of Neillsville, Karen (Scott) Lindner of Stratford, Beverly (Steve) Wickman of Mondovi, and Brian (Nikki) Greeler of Chippewa Falls; ten grandchildren: Steven (Samantha) Greeler, Elizabeth (Lucas) Nuessmeier, Megan Greeler, Blaire, Ashley & Allison Lindner, Sara (Garett) Rivera, Ryan Wickman, and Xavier & Ari Greeler and four great-grandchildren: Oliver & Olivia Greeler and Mateo & Evan Rivera. He is further survived by his three sisters: Delores Zipfel, Lucille Tyler & Janice Mayer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law: Raymond Zipfel, Roger Tyler & Harold Mayer.

Pallbearers are nephews David Tyler, Dennis Zipfel, Bradley Zipfel, Mark Mayer, and grandsons Steven Greeler, Ryan Wickman, and Xavier Greeler.

Visitation will take place at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 4 to 7:30 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Neillsville on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11 am with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at the Neillsville City Cemetery with full military honors.
