Herman Strangfeld, age 96, of Neillsville, WI, died Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center.

Herman John Strangfeld was born on April 21, 1929, in Neillsville, WI, the son of John and Elizabeth (Glasow) Strangfeld. He attended Hillside Grade School and then enlisted into the United States Marine Corp. from 1952 to 1954, serving in Japan building bridges. Herman was honorably discharged as a Corporal. On January 15, 1952, he was united in marriage to Jacquline Buettner in Iowa. They returned to Neillsville and farmed on the Strangfeld family farm, which they eventually purchased and built their home on in 1954. After retiring from farming, Herman drove for Abby Vans for 15 years, retiring from there when he was 75 years old.

Herman was a member and past-commander of the Wilson-Heintz VFW Post #2241 in Neillsville, and served on the board for the Town of Pine Valley for 28 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jacquline, four children, Larry (Cindy) Strangfeld of Neillsville, WI, Bruce (Sue) Strangfeld of Eau Claire, WI, Leila (Richard) Burgdorf of Kiel, WI, and Jeff (Jeanne) Strangfeld of Neillsville, WI, grandchildren, Scott (Corinne) Strangfeld, John (Leslie) Strangfeld, Marc (Alicia) Strangfeld, Joe (Celia) Strangfeld, Paul (Rachael) Strangfeld, William Burgdorf, Michelle (Jason) Burgdorf-Miskell, Matthew (Melissa) Strangfeld, Elizabeth (Jimmy) Stehli, Lee (Sierra) Strangfeld, great grandchildren, Lyndsee (Michael) Frye, Lorianna, Ethan, Cainan and Annaliese Strangfeld, Savannah and Alison Burgdorf, Sara Burgdorf-Miskell,  Emma, Mae, Miles, Hazel, Chloe and Oliver Strangfeld, Morgan and Lucas Strangfeld, Charlie Stehli and Kate Stehli, and Porter, Collyns and Sutton Strangfeld, great, great grandchildren, Ariana and Amara Frye, Eli and Ivy Strangfeld. He is further survived by a sister, Elaine Quast of Sparta, WI.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Strangfeld, an infant son, Herman, a great grandson, Samuel Strangfeld, and a sister, Alice Sischo.

A Memorial Service for Herman will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate. Interment, with military honors performed by the Neillsville Veteran’s Council, will be in the North Pine Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11th at the Gesche Funeral Home.
