Donald was a life-long member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Donald lived a life filled with faith, love, and devotion to his family.
As a young man Donald found himself a job as a farm hand at Carl Spaete farm where he met the love of his life Ruth. Donald and Ruth spent 72 wonderful years together. Over the years Donald and Ruth farmed in the Neillsville area raising their 4 children, while farming Donald was also employed at Wick Homes for 30years; after retiring, Donald and Ruth spent many summers at their camper on Marsh Miller Lake, were they spent many hours fishing, playing cards, telling stories and making many memories with family and friends.
After many years at the camper, they decided to sell their camper and let another family enjoy making memories as they did. On Friday and Saturday nights or any night of the week you could find Donald and Ruth around the dining room table with family and friends playing many hands of cards such as Up & Down, Hearts, Hands & Foot and Farkle just to name a few. You could hear the stories being told with laughter filling the house. When grandkids would come young or old they always knew there would be lollipop hiding out in the owl cookie jar in the kitchen. Donald had a passion for fishing, hunting and watching the Chicago Cubs play. Donald had a heart of gold; he would always welcome you with a smile on his face and a story to tell.
