Darrel Hohenstein

Darrel Dean Hohenstein, ge 94, of Granton, WI, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, peacefully at his home in Granton.

He was born on December 8, 1930, to Ruby and Harold Hohenstein. Darrel married Joyce Shirley Kuehn of September 30, 1950. Together they farmed in the Town of Washburn, raised six children, and enjoyed 70 years of marriage.

Darrel farmed his whole life. He also hauled milk, was a patrol man for the Township of Washburn and the Washburn Township Chairman for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. His biggest adventure was traveling with Joyce to Germany to visit their son, Gary, who was stationed there while in the Air Force.

Darrel was a very hard-working man, a “Jack-of-all-trades”, and loved his family. He will be greatly missed by his sons, Gene (Irene) Hohenstein, Dale (Bonnie) Hohenstein, Terry (Tammy) Hohenstein, and daughter, Cheryl (Walter) Karl, daughters-in-law, Marsha Hohenstein and Carole Hohenstein, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, a sister, Betsy (George) Severson, sisters-in-law, Romona Hohenstein and Nancy Regner, and a brother-in-law, George Kuehn Jr.

Darrel was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, two sons, Gary and David, a grandson, Ross, his parents, Ruby and Harold, a sister, Gloria, a brother, Arthur, his mother and father-in-law, George and Fern, a sister-in-law, Joan, and a brother-in-law, Arthur Regner.

A Memorial Service for Darrel will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, WI. Pastor Douglas will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025.
