Margaret Hillert

 MARGARET E. HILLERT, age 82, of Medford, WI, formerly of Greenwood, WI, passed away at Aspirus Care & Rehab in Medford on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.  A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood.  Rev. Elizabeth Bier will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, from 9:30am until time of service.

Margaret Elisabeth Lichte was born on August 12 1942 in Greenwood, WI, the daughter of Gerhardt E. and Ella A. (Tischer) Lichte.  She was raised on the family farm and received her education in Greenwood area schools, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1960.  Margaret was united in marriage to Walter F. Hillert on August 12, 1962 at Christ Lutheran Church in Chili, WI.  They took over and farm his family farm in Chili.  They later divorced.  In 1979, she moved to a home north of Loyal, WI where she lived for 2 years.  In 1980, Margaret settled in Greenwood where she attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and remained in Greenwood until entering Aspirus Care & Rehab in Medford.

She had many interests, but especially loved plants, flowers and reading.

Margaret is survived by seven children: Rose Brunsell of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Barbara Hillert of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Jeannette Hillert of Medford, WI; Patricia Hillert of Neillsville, WI; Peggy Hillert of Neillsville, WI; Dennis (Nanette) Hillert of Burlington, WI; and Charles Hillert of Chili, WI; eight grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Allen Lichte of Greenwood, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Adam Brunsell; one sister, Bertha Bowdion; and one brother, Edward Lichte.
