MARYLOU H. BURRINGTON, age 72, of Eau Claire, WI, formerly of Thorp, WI, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2025.  Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp.  Pastor Matt Miklasz will officiate, and burial will follow in the Town of Butler Cemetery, rural Thorp.  Pallbearers will be: Randy Rowell, Jeff Rowell, David Hebior, Curt Seng, Leland Burrington and Robert Burrington.  Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Friday from 9am until time of service.  There will be a Thorp American Legion Auxiliary remembrance service held at 10:45am.

Marylou Helen Rowell was born on April 2, 1952 in Tomah, WI, the daughter of  James E. and Gertrude A. (Fredrickson) Rowell.  She was raised and received her education in the Tomah area, graduating from Tomah High School in 1971.  After graduation, Marylou worked at a restaurant in Eau Claire, and attended technical school there.  She was united in marriage to Fred R. Burrington on February 2, 1974 in Grand Rapids, MN.  They lived in Eau Claire until moving to their home in the Town of Butler, rural Thorp.  Marylou was a stay-at-home mom and a homemaker.  She moved back to Eau Claire in 2011 after Fred's passing.

She was a member of the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary, a former member of the Thorp Jaycee's, and had many interests, but especially enjoyed camping, traveling, hunting and fishing.

Marylou will be dearly missed her two sons: Robert (Sheri) Burrington of Marshfield, WI and Chad (Nicole) Burrington of Eleva, WI; five grandchildren: David (Sarah) Rasmussen, Nathan Rasmussen, Marie Field, Leland Burrington and Raegan Burrington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred, on April 2, 2008; her daughter, Rae Lynn Burrington, on March 24, 2006; three brothers: Asa, Jesse and Clarence Rowell; and one sister, Bernice Stratton.
