Stevyn Harold Schlinsog, Sr.

April 12, 1942 – December 13, 2024

Stevyn Harold Schlinsog, 82, Granton, WI, passed away on December 13, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.

Stevyn was born on April 12, 1942, in the Town of York to Harold and Ruth (née Snyder) Schlinsog.  Stevyn grew up on a dairy farm, where he cultivated a strong work ethic and love for rural life. He attended Romadka Grade School and Granton High School, balancing his studies with farm responsibilities, which even included tending to the school’s furnace morning and evening.

Stevyn’s life was a testament to hard work, adaptability, and service to his community. He worked in various capacities, including driving school buses for Granton School and Jel-co Bus Service, helping Harland (Butch) Kuhl build Granton’s first John Deere implement shop, and working in forestry for Glen Roehl Sawmill and Robert Elmhorst Forest Products. He also owned and operated his own businesses, including a seed and fertilizer sales business and a custom crop spraying service.

Additionally, Stevyn owned & operated grain trucks, buying & selling grain throughout Wisconsin, creating friendships along the way.  He later operated a gas truck, hauling petroleum products for local co-ops and Drescher Oil Company. His greatest endeavor was owning and operating several dairy farms, where he milked 150 cows and raised dairy heifers.

Stevyn was a dedicated member of his community; he served on the Clark County ASCS Board and the Veefkind Community Church Board. An avid tractor collector, Stevyn was also an active member of the Granton Antique Tractor Club, where he shared his passion for tractors with fellow enthusiasts.

Stevyn married Retta (née Lammey) Schlinsog on November 14, 1971, after a previous marriage to Carol (née Foemmel).  Stevyn and Retta raised their families and created a legacy of love and dedication.

Stevyn is survived by his wife, Retta; his five children, Rick (Shelby) Osborn, Londa (Dennis) Kuehn, Steve Schlinsog, Jr., Dustin (Brenda) Schlinsog, and Juliana (Adam) Schlinsog; his grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sarah) Osborn, Jodi (Mark) Osbeck, James (Katie) Osborn, Crystal (Matt) Metcalfe, Troy (Pat) Kuehn, Craig Kuehn, Liana (Jessup) Weichelt, Kendall (Heather) Kuehn, Becky (Mel) Coleman, James Strey, Scott Schlinsog Jr., Sam (Rene) Schlinsog, Linda (Ray) Reiff, Andrea (Adam) Knapp, Breanne (Josh) Koski, Brittany Gilman, Braquel (Dylan) Gilman, and Logan and Remi VerKilen; as well as many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, LeOra (Tony) Bezlyk and Karen (Gary) Wegner.

Stevyn was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth Schlinsog; his daughter, Diana (née Osborn) Kopf; and his son, Scott Schlinsog Sr.

Stevyn will be remembered as a hardworking, faith-filled man who found joy in his labors and valued the relationships he built throughout his life. He was a friend to many and will be deeply missed.
