Jeanette L. Zschernitz

Jeannette L. Zschernitz, 63, of Neillsville, WI died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Our House Senior Care in Eau Claire, WI.

Jeannette Louise Pyka was born on Feb 6, 1961 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Carl Edward and Susan Marie (Cote) Pyka.  She was united in marriage to James R. Zschernitz April 7, 1984.  Jeannette was a stay-at-home mother.  After the children were raised, Jeannette worked on furthering her education.   She really loved children and helping people with just about anything.  Jeannette babysat all of her nieces and nephews and many other people’s children through the years.  She had a big heart.  Jeannette also waitressed at many various cafes.  She loved all animals and made them pets, from birds to cows.  Many strays were hauled home and cared for.  Jeannette’s favorites were “Hope” the sheepdog and “Stormy” the husky.  Jeannette was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. 

She is survived by her husband, James of Neillsville, a daughter Julia Zschernitz of Monona, WI, a son Jack Zschernitz of Chippewa Falls, her grandchildren that she loved dearly, Landon and Gianna Zschernitz, her mother, Susan (Bill) Zank, brothers; Joe Pyka, Steve Pyka and Roy Pyka and a sister, Michelle Zank Pannhoff, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Pyka.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.  Celebrant will be Fr. Greg Michaud.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, WI and also from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday morning at St. Mary’s.
