It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Jean Richard announce her passing on October 16, 2024 at the age of 76.

Carol was born on February 24, 1948 in Waterloo, Iowa to Adelbert "Dell" and Norma Jean (Teter) Bravener.  In 1950, Carol and her family moved to Wisconsin.  She graduated as Salutatorian from Greenwood High School in May 1966.  After graduating, Carol moved to Washington, D.C and began working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation where she worked as a fingerprint technician.  Later that same year, Carol began working at the Internal Revenue Service in Washington D.C in a secretarial/typist role.  On March 11, 1967, Carol married the love of her life, Dan Richard at Union Methodist Church in Washington, D.C.  In 1971, Carol moved back to Greenwood, WI.  She held several occupations including Clark County Department of Weatherization, Clark County Courthouse, and Headstart in Abbotsford.  In 1992, Carol graduated from Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and later received her Day Care Center Administration degree. In 1993, Carol moved to Marshfield, WI and in 1996 she began working at Marshfield Bus Service as a dispatcher and worked her way up to assistant manager.  Carol retired from Marshfield Bus Service after 24 years in 2020.

While Carol had a fulfilled professional life, her greatest accomplishment was her family.  Carol is survived by her husband of 57 years, Dan Richard of Marshfield; their children: Carolyn Richard of Plover, Dana Richard of Green Bay, Daniel (Elizabeth) Richard of Marshfield, and Connie Richard of Marshfield.  Carol is further survived by her grandchildren: Aleena Kaczrouske, Alexis Kaczrouske, Sierra (Noah) Osswald, Carly (Ryan) Schoeffling, Derrick Richard, and Mara Daniels, and great-grandchildren: Briella, Ava, Walter, and Rhylee. Siblings: Richard (Vicki) Bravener, Toni Bravener (sister-in-law), Kenneth (Karen) Bravener, Barb (Rich) Kane, and Arnold (Brenda) Bravener.

Carol enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sewing, knitting, and crocheting, but most of all, she enjoyed being with her family, who gave her great joy.

Carol is rejoicing in heaven with her mother, Norma Jean (Teter) Bravener, father Adelbert "Dell" Bravener, brother Danny Bravener, and grandparents Albert and Alice Bravener and Harold and Gladys Teter.

Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home in Greenwood, WI on Monday, October 28th from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with the service at 11:00.  Burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.

Carol’s family would like to thank Elizabeth Vincent of Marshfield who was Carol’s loving caregiver, as well as Josh, R.N. from Heartland Hospice who helped the family navigate through a tremendously difficult time.  We couldn’t have gotten through this without the support of the two of you.

"To those I love and those who loved me; be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love and you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness. I thank you for the love you have shown, but it's time to travel on. So grieve for a while, if you must, then let yourselves be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part. So, bless the memories within your heart."
