Rhoena Marg, age 89, of Granton, WI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI, surrounded by her loving family.

Rhoena Mae Adams was born on October 27, 1934 in Neillsville WI, the daughter of Elmer and Hazel (Brown) Adams. They resided in Rural Pine Valley on the family farm. She met the love of her life, Duane “Jim” Marg at Luther League at the Pine Valley Church. After she graduated from Neillsville high school, they worked in Milwaukee Wisconsin. They were united in marriage April 18, 1953, at the Pine Valley Lutheran Church. There was a packed Grant Village Hall for the wedding dance. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at Fannies Supper Club and their 50th wedding anniversary at the Granton Sportsman’s Club previously known as the Village Hall. They were married for 52 years before Jim’s death in 2006. Rhoena worked almost 18 years for the Neillsville Memorial Hospital and nursing home. One winter there was a severe snowstorm, but she still got to the hospital to provide care. With roads closed for her return home, she stayed with family in town to make sure she got to work the next day. She was very dedicated, compassionate and caring for others. In 1994, they were nominated by their grandchildren and became honored grandparents for the Granton Fall festival.

The Howdy Doody cookie jar was filled with treats and Grandma Rhoena would provide fun activities, such as Santa and Mrs. Claus coming to her home for her grandchildren to enjoy. Her attic bedroom was always ready for all of her grandchildren visits, and she never minded them jumping on the six double beds as long as they never fell off!

Along with family visits, she also enjoyed traveling, seeing all the US coasts, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Guatemala, and Europe.

Rhoena will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her five surviving children, Ruth Marg-Patton of New Brighton, Minn., Susan (Colin) Conn of Cross Plaines, WI, David Marg of Black River Falls, WI, Sherie Dybevik of Cottage Grove, WI, and Melissa (William) Hines of Big Lake, MN; a daughter-in-law, Debra Marg of Neillsville, WI, 12 grandchildren, Colin Conn, Tyler (Hilary) Conn, Quinn (Erin) Conn, Carmen (Chad) Patton-Minder, Shawn Marg-Patton, James (Heather) Marg, Rebecca (Matt) Taus, Autumn Marg, Adam (Sarah) Marg, Nicole (Luke) Zautner, Ryan Dybevik and Savannah Hines, 22 great grandchildren, and three sisters, Nancy Versecki, Bonnie Kuechenmeister and Barbara Olson.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Duane “Jim” Marg, a son, Danny Marg, her parents, Elmer and Hazel (Brown) Adams, a son-in-law, John Marg-Patton, three brothers, Wilbert (Ruby) Adams, Larry (Lana) Adams, and David Adams, her father and mother-in law, Elmer and Agnes (Garbisch) Marg and their children, Curtis (Gladys) Marg, Alene (Ralph) Lautenbach, Amber (Harvey) Pischer, Erland (Joyce) Marg and Ruth Marg.

Visitation for Rhoena will begin at 9:30 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Neillsville American Legion, with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Bob Garbisch will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion American Lutheran Church Cemetery in Granton.
