Leland Krause

Leland Krause, age 87, of Granton, WI, died Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI.

Leland Bernard Krause was born on July 4, 1937, in the town of Lynn, Clark County, Wisconsin, the son of Alvin and Laurean (Wilkens) Krause. He attended Granton Grade School for four years, four years at Cannonville Corners Grade School, and graduated from Granton High School in 1955. Leland then worked for 1 year at Rollohome in Marshfield before moving to Milwaukee, WI, where he worked for General Electric X-Ray. In 1958, he enlisted into the United States Coast Guard, and did 30 weeks of electronics school in Groton, CT. He was assigned to Port Angeles, WA for nine months, Sand Island in Honolulu, HI for two years and then to Milwaukee for the final three months. After his honorable discharge in 1962, he worked for Allis Chalmers for three months and then at Johnson Controls in Albuquerque, NM for one year. Leland then moved to Rio Vista, CA and worked at Al’s TV Shop for a short time, before moving to Rockford, IL and working for RCA Factory Service for three years and one year in Madison, WI. From there Leland moved to Marshfield, WI, and worked for the Sears-Roebuck Company as a radio/tv repairman for ten years, seven of which he was the service manager. He spent a year working for Land-O-Lakes in Spencer, WI, twelve years in management at H.C. Prange’s in Marshfield and lastly at Target in their maintenance department for 5 ½ years before retiring at the age of 60.

Leland loved to go to the Silver Dome Ballroom dancing and that is where he met Annette Durst. They were married on August 13, 1966, at the Pine Valley Lutheran Church in Neillsville, WI. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on computers.

He is survived by a brother, Elmer (Julie) Krause of Stevens Point, WI and two nephews, DuWayne (Liisa) Krause of Junction City, WI, and EuGene (Karyn) Krause of Inola, OK.

Preceding him in death are his wife and his parents.

A graveside service for Leland will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Windfall Cemetery in Granton, WI. He will be interred next to his wife, Annette, who died in 2006.
