James Dean Arch was born on June 3, 1959 in Marshfield, WI, to Ernest J. and Mildred L. (Podobnik) Arch.  He was raised and received his education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1977.  After high school, Jim worked at Nelson Muffler in Neillsville, while farming the family farm.  He then attended UW-Marshfield for one year, and then UW-Madison for one year, studying Agriculture & Agronomy.  In 1991, he entered the Peace Corps, where he served for 2 years and met his future wife-to-be.  Jim was united in marriage to Yolanda M.
