Genevieve Ziegler
Genevieve Ziegler, age 94, of Long Grove, IL, formerly of Brookfield, WI, died Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Ciel Senior Living of Long Grove, IL.
Genevieve Evangeline Menning was born on October 20, 1929, in Neillsville, WI, the daughter of Albert and Elsie (Spencer) Menning. She attended school in Neillsville, graduating from Neillsville High School in 1947. She met Clarence Ziegler at the Stables, and they married in the Town of Weston on June 24, 1948. They moved to Milwaukee, WI. In 1956, with the help of Adolph and Sena Ziegler, they purchased their first home in Brookfield, WI. Genevieve worked as a baker in the Elmbrook School District and at Milwaukee Electric Tool, retiring from there as an Office Clerk.
She was a charter member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Brookfield, WI. She loved playing Sheep Head every month for decades, with her best friends, Erv, Ann, Barb and Obie. She also enjoyed country music and dancing. Genevieve lived in Wisconsin for 91 years moving to Harbor Chase Assisted Living in Long Grove, IL, in June of 2021.
This year Genevieve celebrated her 94th birthday with her sons, their families, and friends. She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Nancy) Ziegler of Elk Grove Village, IL, and Kevin (Gary Martino) Ziegler of Seattle, WA, grandchildren, Stacy (Jake) Rietschel of Antioch, IL, and Brett Ziegler of Muskegon, MI, great grandchildren, Madison, Casey and, Brady Rietschel, siblings, LeRoy (Liz) Parker of Black River Falls, WI, Shirley (Dennis) Johnson of Black River Falls, WI, Sharyn (Orlin) Berg of Mondovi, WI, and Bill (Lynda) Parker of Reedsburg, WI. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clarence Ziegler in 1993, brothers, Leonard and Donald Menning and sisters, Joan Menning and Rose Parker.
A Memorial Service for Genevieve will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27th at the Gesche Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Genevieve’s name may be directed to the charity “Journeys The Road Home” at www.journeystheroadhome.org.
