Elaine Seefeldt
Elaine R. (Helm) Seefeldt, 99, of Chippewa Falls, peacefully left this life for eternity in heaven on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Our House Assisted Living in Chippewa Falls. Family was by her side and she was under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
She was born July 25, 1924, to Henry and Clara (Garbisch) Helm in Granton, WI.
On March 3, 1946, she married Philmore “Sam” Seefeldt. They were married for over 60 years, until his death on January 15, 2007.
Elaine and Sam started farming in Chili after they were married. They moved to Black River Falls in 1948, then to Alma Center. They settled in Melrose in 1958, where they purchased a farm that they operated until retiring to Chippewa Falls in 1996. They enjoyed square dancing every weekend and they always encouraged their kids to participate in school activities.
Besides being a farmer’s wife, Elaine held many positions over the years. She worked at a Ben Franklin Store, as a waitress, and a bookkeeper. She was extremely active in community projects and organizations such as the ladies aid, Red Hat Society, Jackson and Chippewa County Homemakers for 50 years, and 4-H. If she saw something that needed doing, or a group that wasn’t nearby, she started one…always with a smile. Elaine loved being around family and was a natural organizer and unifier.
Elaine is survived by her son, Randy (Susan) Seefeldt of San Diego, CA; daughters, Kathie (John) Colbert of Madison, WI and Linda (Mike) Balsiger of Chippewa Falls; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Donald Helm, and Roger (Caroline) Helm; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and granddaughter, Diane Reyes.
Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Our House Assisted Living and St. Joseph’s Hospice for the excellent care that mom received.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 19 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with Rev. Philip Pitt officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will be held on Wednesday, December 20 at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Granton, WI.
