Ronald Hansen

Ronald Marti Hansen was born on May 14, 1964, to Dawn (Hawley-Schlagenhaft) and Ronnie Hansen in Marshfield, Wisconsin.  He passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, after a short illness.  Although his early daycare babysitters, Bub and Vivian Catlin, dubbed him “Rudolph,” he was always known as “Buddy” and later in life as “Bud.”

Bud graduated from Loyal High School in 1982.  After graduation he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1985.  He was self-employed as a sawyer for a few years after separation from the Army; but always in love with the woods and the outdoors, his career path took a new direction when he became employed in the pipeline industry as a heavy equipment operator for Northern Clearing.  He continued to travel to various job sites east of the Mississippi until his death.  Between jobs he lived at his cabin nestled in the woods near Lake Holcombe and pursued his love of fishing and hunting; and, of course, to ride his Harley.

Bud married Kathy Voit, his proclaimed “girlfriend since first grade,” on December 31, 2011.  They divorced, but recently reconnected and enjoyed each other’s company.

Bud is survived by Kathy, of Eau Claire, WI; his brothers: Jim (Marge) Schlagenhaft of Madison, WI, and Mark (Tammy) Schlagenhaft of Chili, WI; his sisters: Cheryl (Jim) Sharp of Pemberville, OH, and Barb (Tim) Nysted of Oracle, AZ.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews:  Nikki Wilson of McFarland, WI, Jeff Villwock of Norwalk, CA, Jim Sharp of Avon, CT, Mike Sharp of Massillon, OH, Caitlin Barker of Houma, LA, Andy Nysted of Black River Falls, WI, Emily Nysted of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Kati Olson of Chili, WI, and Anthony, Nicholas, and Christopher Schlagenhaft, all of Loyal, WI.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Karen Villwock.

There will be no services.  A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2024.
