Mark Larson

MARK S. LARSON  age 67, of Greenwood, WI, died on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Marshfield Medical Center in Weston, WI.  A Celebration of Life for Mark will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home, in Greenwood, on Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 11am until 1pm.

Mark Steven Larson was born on February 15, 1956 in Marshfield, WI, the son of Richard T. and Corrine J. (Hare) Larson.  He was raised and received his education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1974.  Mark then attended Viterbo College in La Crosse, WI, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdepartmental Chemistry & Biology in 1978.  Mark was united in marriage to Patricia A. Nielsen on June 3, 1978 at St. Wenceslaus Chapel on the Viterbo Campus.  They moved to Rochester, MN where Mark work at Mayo Clinic.  During his time at Mayo, Mark attended Winona State University, earning another Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.  He then worked various jobs throughout the 90's, including; St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, the Institute for Academic Excellence, TDS Computer Services as a consultant, at Functional Services Corporation, whose main client was the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.  The family moved to Marshfield, where he worked in the Marshfield Clinic IT Department as a Senior Systems Administrator.  Mark then started his own business, Magic Marker Creations, located in Penny Court, where he enjoyed personalizing photo and video restorations.

In his spare time, he loved walking in the woods, deer hunting, and duck hunting and fishing on the Mississippi with his best friend Pete.  He thoroughly enjoyed  music, writing poems and coaching basketball.  Mark coached all of his children in basketball for several years.  He held his Special Olympics basketball family dear to his heart.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Trish, of Greenwood; his children: Amy Larson, Adam Larson, and Megan Larson, all of Thorp, WI; his granddaughter: Mckenzie Larson of Thorp; his mother, Corrine Larson, of Greenwood; his siblings: James (Karen) Larson of Horicon, Lisa (Joel) Kastner of Owen, David Larson (Alisha Southworth) of Black River Falls, Lynn Vollrath of Withee, WI, Laura (Dave) Toburen of Greenwood, and Jon (Alecia) Larson of Sacramento, CA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Larson; his father, Richard "Dick" Larson; and his brother, Mike Larson.

Because Mark was an avid reader and loved books, the family requests that donations be given to the Greenwood Library in Greenwood, WI, in lieu of flowers.
