Betty Horn

BETTY J. HORN, age 93, of Greenwood, WI, passed away at Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen, WI on Sunday, July 23, 2023.  Per Betty's wishes, private services will be held.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Betty Jane Richmond was born on May 18, 1930 in the Town of Mead, rural Greenwood, WI, the daughter of Guy E. and Laura B. (Miller) Richmond.  She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Braun Settlement Country School, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1948.  Betty was united in marriage to Norman H. Horn on September 3, 1949 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, rural Greenwood.  They moved to Wausau, where she was a homemaker and babysat for many friends and family members.  After Norman retired, they returned to a home northwest of Greenwood.  Betty resided there until moving into Greenwood to the Black River View Apartments.

She was a lifelong member of Immanuel United Church of Christ.  Betty had many interests, but especially loved reading, playing cards, crossword/word search puzzles, and sewing.  She sewed Christmas stockings for all of her nieces, nephews and many other children.  Betty also enjoyed traveling by car with her husband through most of the lower 48 states.  She was an avid letter writer and spent much time sending cards to all of her family members and friends.  Betty was our “family lifeline”.  She communicated with everyone by telephone and mail and was our “go to” person for any family information, past or present.  She will be missed.

Betty is survived by one brother: Jerald Richmond of Greenwood; one sister: Rose Caryl Humke of Greenwood; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman, on May 7, 1997; one sister: Lila (Herbert) Horn; one sister-in-law: Myrna Richmond; and one brother-in-law: Paul Humke.
