Richard A. Strey

Richard A. Strey 81, of Neillsville, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023.

Richard Arthur Strey was born on April 24, 1942 the son of Arthur and Evelyn (Smith) Strey in Greenwood, WI.  His early years were spent on the family farm south of Loyal.  There he learned lots of skills that came in handy later in life.  He married his love and partner, Marie Faucher on January 27, 1962.  They are the proud parents of Charles, Edward, Linda (Paul) Kirchner, Tammy (Rick, significant other) Carson and Carrie (Steve, significant other) Strey.  He was a self-educated man with many interests.  In the fall you could find him coon hunting and bow hunting and summer brought on the fishing, camping and boating.  He took many trips to Canada with his sons and friends.  Spring was the time to make maple syrup- and he and Marie made great syrup.  During the winter Dick would be out in his shop doing his wood working projects or painting wild life scenes.  During his working years he was employed at Pathfinder, Greenwood Homes, Loyal Cold Storage and Fiskers of Spencer.  He loved his family and their children.

Dick is survived by his wife, Marie and his children, his brothers; Harry (Paulette), Jon (Connie), Peter (Linda) and Jim and a sister, Sue Butterfield, a sister-in-law, Kay, 21 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lisa, a brother, Tom, his in-laws, Louie and Helen Faucher and his beloved grandparents, Archie and Carrie Strey.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023 at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 5th prior to the service.
