Duane "Dewey" Schultze

DUANE H. "DEWEY" SCHULTZE, age 71, of Greenwood, WI, passed away on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Greenwood.  Rev. Elizabeth Bier will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be: Jason Schultze, Justin Schultze, Ethan Schultze, Colton Schultze, Marshall Schultze, and Kaeden Ludwig.  Military rites will be conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post #238. Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Duane Henry Schultze was born on April 20, 1952, in Stanley, WI to Henry and Eleanor A. (Bobb) Schultze.  He was raised on the family farm in the Town of Eaton, rural Greenwood, and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1970.  Duane was united in marriage to Diane R. Schultz on April 25, 1970, at Grace United Methodist Church in Greenwood.  He hauled milk for Rasmussen Cheese Factory until he was drafted into the U. S. Army on September 12, 1972.  After his honorable discharge from the service, Duane farmed his home farm after the unexpected death of his father.  He also was a heavy equipment operator, specifically, a grader operator for the Eaton Township, and later for B.R. Amon and Sons.  Duane then was employed at Grassland Dairy Products until he retired.  He came out of retirement to continue his employment for the Eaton Township.  He loved operating the grader and was dedicated to his work to be the best.

When Duane was not at work, you would always see him outside tackling new projects, hunting, or snowmobiling.  During the wintertime you would see him out on the roads plowing the snow for others to get around.  Duane loved spending time socializing with his friends and family, and always kept himself busy.  He was a jack of all trades.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Diane, of Greenwood; his three children: Jason (Patty) Schultze of Greenwood, Sherri (Brad) Ludwig of Mosinee, WI and Justin (Jamie) Schultze of Greenwood, WI; his mother: Eleanor Schultze of Thorp, WI; his sister: Diane (Jim) Johnson of Germantown, WI; 10 grandchildren: Josh (Abby) Ludwig, Kelsey (Austin) Stefanich, Kaley Ludwig, Kaeden Ludwig, Ethan Schultze, Marshall Schultze, Colton Schultze, Aspen Schultze, Ben (Katie) Van Dusen, and Josh (Ashley) Van Dusen; eight great-grandchildren: Cora Ludwig, Kollins Ludwig, Wyatt Van Dusen, Emma Van Dusen, Taylor Van Dusen, Logan Van Dusen, Landon Van Dusen and Diesel Van Dusen; one nephew: Rick (Monica) Brown of Denver, CO; other relatives and many friends.

Duane was preceded in death by his father, Henry Schultze.
