Elayne M. "Boots" Bertz

ELAYNE M. "BOOTS" BERTZ, age 86, of Loyal, WI, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at her home.  Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal, with Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh officiating.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Tuesday, from 10am until time of service.  Burial will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Elayne Marie Earll was born on June 26, 1936 in Arpin, WI, the daughter of Quirin D. and Marie B. (Durst) Earll.  She was raised on the family farm and received her education in Arpin area schools, graduating in 1954 from Columbus Catholic High School in Marshfield.  After high school, Boots worked at a bakery in Marshfield, and later was a waitress and cook at a cafe in Marshfield.  She was united in marriage to John J. "Jack" Bertz on April 30, 1960 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield, WI.  They moved to Loyal in 1962, where she was a stay-at-home mother raising their five children.  In 1979, Boots began working at the Loyal Bakery until becoming the cook at St. Anthony's Catholic School in 1983.  She worked at the school until retiring in 200?

She had many interests, but especially loved watching the Green Bay Packers, listening to the Brewers and Badger games, playing sheepshead and pinochle, but what she enjoyed most of all was spending time with her family.

Boots was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and its PCCW, and a member of the Clark County Homemakers Club.

Elayne will be dearly missed by her five children: Rhonda (Robert) Lynes of Wausau, Mona Bertz of Tampa, FL, Ranee Bertz (Joe Schultz) of Chili, Shawn Bertz of Loyal, Rolanda Bertz of Lakeland, FL; one step-grandson: Jonathon Schultz; one brother: Jack Earll of Lodi, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack, on July 18, 2022; and one brother: Wayne Earll.
