Nancy Hanson

NANCY N. HANSON, age 82, of Greenwood, WI, passed away at Marshfield Medical Center, in Marshfield, WI, on Friday, September 16, 2022.  A memorial service will be held at 11am on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Loyal United Methodist Church in Loyal, WI.  Rev. Kathy Jury will officiate, and burial will follow in the Greenwood City Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, from 9:30am until time of service.

Nancy Nell Heisel was born on January 12, 1940 in Valley, WI, the daughter of Ardythe Z. Heisel.  She was raised and received her education in Vernon County, WI, graduating from La Farage High School in 1958.  After high school, she attended La Crosse Technical College and completed the secretarial course.  Nancy went to work at the print lab for Dairyland Power in La Crosse.  She was united in marriage to Jon H. Hanson on May 6, 1961 at Emmanuel United Brethren Church in Valley, WI.  They moved to Greenwood in 1965, where she was a daycare provider until retiring in 2003.  Nancy was very active in the Greenwood community, where she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church until its closing, was a member of the Greenwood American Legion Auxiliary, and she took tickets for high school sporting events for 35 years.  She was also involved with the Clark County Area Veterans Council, and a volunteer for The Highground in Neillsville.

She had many interests, but especially loved her grandkids, family and dogs, was passionate about her flowers and gardening, reading and canning.

Nancy will be dearly missed by her children: Sheila (Mark) Christophersen of Withee, Dana Cramer and Paul Hanson, both of Greenwood; six grandchildren: Kari, Cody and Emily Christophersen, Meagan (Aaron) Lichtenwalner, Sean and Katie Cramer; one great-grandson, Asa Lichtenwalner; two sisters: Cherilyn (Chuck) Hare of Greenwood, WI and Connie Hammon of Ontario, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Ardythe and Bruno Meyer; her husband, Jon H. Hanson, on January 25, 2011; and her brother, Kenneth Betts.
