RAYMOND A. RONDORF, age 81, of Loyal, WI, formerly of Greenwood, WI, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center, in Marshfield, WI, surrounded by his loving family.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Monday, October 3, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood, with Rev. Emmanuel Famiyeh officiating.  Military rites will be conducted by the Greenwood American Legion Post #238 following the service.  Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons:  Dustin Rondorf, Jordan Rondorf, Tyler Rondorf, Zach Zimbauer, Alex Zimbauer, Cole Zimbauer, Dillon Muraski, Walker Gilbertson and Easton Ehlers.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Sunday, October 2nd from 2pm to 6pm, and again on Monday from 10am until time of service.  Burial will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery, in Loyal, at a later date.

Raymond Alfred Rondorf was born on May 13, 1941 in Greenwood, WI, to Alfred M. and Mae C. (Becker) Rondorf.  He was raised on the family farm, and received his education in Greenwood, graduating from Greenwood High School in 1959.  After high school, Ray entered the U.S. Army on October 7, 1960 and served until his honorable discharge on October 4, 1963.  On September 4, 1965 he was united in marriage to Betty Jean Loos in Loyal, WI.  They lived in Loyal for four years and then took over Ray's parents farm in 1969, where they farmed until 1993. They sold their farm and built a house in Greenwood, and Ray worked for Branstiter Brothers, Brenner Oil, the Greenwood Co-op, and drove school bus for Branstiter's Bus Service in Greenwood.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenwood, and the Greenwood American Legion Post #238.  Throughout his life he enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, playing cards, woodworking with his wife, and in recent years he picked up new hobbies of shaking dice and UTV-ing with “the boys”.  He loved his old-fashions and fish fries, and the occasional shot, especially at hunting camp and packer games.  He loved watching and bragging about all of his grandchildren in their sporting events and hobbies.  Whether it was basketball, football, hunting or fishing, he loved being involved, hearing stories, and seeing pictures.

He is survived by his seven children: Doug (Kathy) Rondorf of Marengo, IL, Deanna (Greg) Hoeser of Loyal, WI, Sandra (Bradley) Zimbauer of Greenwood, WI, Kim (James) Gilbertson of Granton, WI, Don (Trisha) Rondorf of Black River Falls, WI, Kelly (Tyler) Stenulson of Neillsville, WI and Kristy (Justin) Ehlers of Loyal, WI; 18 grandchildren: Dustin (Korrie) Rondorf, Kaila Rondorf (Marc Burns), Nikki (Bob) Cook, Kaitlin (Devin) Klein, Olivia Hoeser, Zachary, Alex and Cole Zimbauer, Dillon and Mackenzie Muraski and Walker Gilbertson, Jordan (Kayla) Rondorf, Chloe and Tyler Rondorf, Nevaeh and Danika Stenulson and Andi and Easton Ehlers; five great-grandchildren: Russell, Isla, Paisley, Lauren and one to come.  Ray is also survived by two siblings: Shirley (Kenneth) Verhalen and Robert Rondorf, both of Waupaca, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mae Rondorf, his loving wife, Betty, on July 29, 2014, and his in-laws, Gilbert and Jean Loos.
