Carol J. Anason

At the dawn of a new day, Jesus took His precious Christmas Eve angel, Carol Jean Anason, home with Him on January 19th, 2022.

Carol was born December 24th, 1938, in Black River Falls, WI to Roy and Dorothy (Matysik) Abrahamson, the eighth child of nine and first girl after seven boys.

Carol graduated from Fairchild High School in 1956.  While she was in high school, she went to State for Clarinet and enjoyed many other activities.  After high school she went to work at 3M in St Paul, MN.

She met the love of her life, Lamoine A. Anason at the Silver Dome Ballroom in Neillsville.  They were married June 1st, 1957, at St John’s Lutheran Church. They honeymooned out west in the Badlands and Yellowstone National Park.  After returning to Wisconsin, they farmed dairy cattle and raised a family.

Being the first girl after seven boys Carol grew up loving sports and enjoyed following local sports teams and listening to broadcasts by Larry Hoeser.  Other past times included roller skating, dancing, bowling, and softball. She was an active member of St John’s Lutheran Church and participated in hand bells, choir, and alter guild.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family attending many of their school events which are well documented by hundreds of pictures and artwork creations hanging on the walls, cabinets, and refrigerator.

Carol will be greatly missed by her husband of 64 years, Lamoine; her children, Charlene (Jon) Siebert, Cheryl (Ivan) Alf, Larry (Kay) Anason, Kevin (Connie) Anason, and Kathy (Gary) Reither.  She treasured every one of her 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  Carol is survived by her brother Bernard Abrahamson, sister Susan Janke, sisters-in-law Sandy and Arlene Abrahamson as well as many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents Roy and Dorothy Abrahamson, brothers Leonard, Edwin, Gerald, Charles, Alvin, and Lyle Abrahamson.

Funeral services for Carol will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Biebert will officiate. Music will be provided by Judy Trunkel, organist. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the church.

Casket bearers will be her grandsons.
