Two Children Transported by Helicopter After Accident on Highway N in Clark County

Friday, April 17th, 2026 -- 3:01 PM

Two children were transported by helicopter when they were involved in a crash on CTH N near Fernwal Ave. in the Town of Worden.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call of the crash at about 7:29 AM, on Thursday April 16, 2026. Initial investigation indicates that a pickup truck was east bound on CTH N, west of Fernwal Ave, when it approached some bicycles that were also traveling east.

The pickup truck operator said that the sun was in his eyes, and he didn’t see the bicycles. The pickup truck struck the bicycle(s) which entered the south ditch after being hit.

The bicycles were being driven by a boy, 7 yrs old, and a girl, 10 yrs old, who were both treated at the scene by Thorp Area Fire and EMS personnel. They were then transported by Lifelink and Mayo helicopters to the Marshfield Hospital.

The pickup operator, a 17-yr old male, stopped immediately after the accident on the south shoulder. First aid was given to the children almost immediately after the crash by drivers that saw the accident and stopped to help.

The pickup truck driver was not injured, and the two children were transported with serious injuries. The Thorp Area Fire and Ambulance Service responded to the scene with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The investigation of the crash is continuing by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol. The names of everyone involved are not being released because of their age.
