1 Dead, 1 Injured In Portage County Crash

Early Saturday morning the Portage County Communications Center received a report of a one vehicle traffic crash with injuries on Evergreen Avenue west of 110th Street, in the Town of Grant.
Initial investigation revealed a pick-up truck with four occupants was traveling eastbound on Evergreen Avenue in a reckless manner. The vehicle lost control, struck an embankment, and overturned coming to rest on its roof. The driver and front seat passenger where both partially ejected from the vehicle.
The operator of the truck, a 17-year-old male from Wisconsin Rapids was flown to Marshfield Hospital via Life Link Helicopter. The front seat passenger, an 18 -year-old male from Wisconsin Rapids died at the scene. The rear seat passengers a 17-year-old male and an 18-year old female both from Wisconsin Rapids were uninjured.
The Portage County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by United Ambulance, Plainfield Fire Department, Grand Rapids Fire Department, Grant EMR, Life Link, and the Portage County Medical Examiner. The State Patrol responded for technical crash investigation.
This crash remains under investigation. No additional information will be released until Monday.
