Clark and Surrounding Counties Contribute to Wisconsin's Record Breaking Year in Tourism

In 2024, Wisconsin tourism generated a historic $25.8 billion economic impact, marking a third consecutive record-breaking year for tourism’s economic impact.
Wisconsin welcomed 114.4 million visits, eclipsing the pre-pandemic record formerly set in 2019 by more than a million. Although Clark County did see a decrease in their tourism numbers over 2023, it still provided a $62 million in economic impact. Direct visitor spending came in at $37.7 million and provided 335 jobs. Total labor income came in at $7.9 million and provided $3.2 million in state and local taxes.
Wood County provided $218 million in economic impact. Direct visitor spending came in at $115.5 million and provided 2,139 jobs. Total labor income came in at $81.8 million and provided $12.8 million in state and local taxes.
Marathon County provided $497 million in economic impact. Direct visitor spending came in at $282.2 million and provided 3,617 jobs. Total labor income came in at $132.5 million and provided $30.2 million in state and local taxes.
Although Taylor County did see a decrease in their tourism numbers over 2023, it still provided $54 million in economic impact. Direct visitor spending came in at $33.9 million and provided 321 jobs. Total labor income came in at $9.3 million and provided $2.8 million in state and local taxes.
Chippewa County provided $193 million in economic impact. Direct visitor spending came in at $127.4 million and provided 1,440 jobs. Total labor income came in at $47.6 million and provided $11.8 million in state and local taxes.
Eau Claire County provided $461 million in economic impact. Direct visitor spending came in at $286 million and provided 3,905 jobs. Total labor income came in at $134.4 million and provided $31 million in state and local taxes.
Although Jackson County did see a slight decrease in their tourism numbers, they still provided $66 million in economic impact. Direct visitor spending came in at $44 million and provided 467 jobs. Total labor income came in at $11.3 million and provided $4.3 million in state and local taxes.
