(Heather Knox, WEAU) Two men charged following a shooting in Fairchild appeared in Eau Claire County Court on Thursday.
According to Heather Knox with WEAU, court documents show that on Oct. 4 of last year, Mark Dickinsen and Aaron Walker, both of rural Augusta, each face several charges related to a shooting in Fairchild on Sept. 29.
According to the criminal complaint, Dickinsen claimed the tenant of the home where the shooting happened owed him money. Walker fired a round into the car of a neighbor because it was loud and the neighbor refused to turn it off.
Dickinsen is charged with kidnapping, felony intimidation of a victim, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, pointing a firearm at another, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence - 3rd offense, operate a motor vehicle while revoked and criminal damage to property.
Walker is charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, endanger safety by reckless use of firearm, felony intimidation of a victim and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
Dickinsen entered a plea to the charges against him. He was found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, 3rd OWI. He was sentenced for that charge right away. He received a sentence of 60 days jail time, an ignition interlock device for 24 months, and driver’s license revoked for 24 months.
He was also found guilty of, due to a no contest plea, felony intimidation of a witness and possession of a firearm by a felon. He’s scheduled for sentencing on those two charges on July 17th.
During Walker’s arraignment, he entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him. He was scheduled to be back in court in August. According to the criminal complaint, on Sept. 29 at about 7:30 p.m., officers were advised of a report of a man with a gun near 326 E. Main St. in Fairchild.
The caller reported a man had held a gun to someone’s head and said they were going to kill him. Dickinsen and Walker arrived at the home looking for the tenant, who Dickinsen said owed him money.
A man who was in the garage/office with two other men at the time saw them arrive and came outside. When a neighbor turned on his car, Dickinsen yelled at him to turn his car off because it was loud; the man refused.
Walker then went to the passenger side of the man’s car and shot a round into the vehicle and the dash, “[making] a comment along the lines of he was not in the mood for anyone to talk shit to him.”
The man inside the car was taken across the street and to his home by Dickinsen, who let him go with a warning: “don’t call the cops or we’ll kill you.” The other man returned to the garage/office area.
Dickinsen followed. He then grabbed the man by the back of his collar and kept him in front of him like a “human shield” while he held a gun to the back of his head as they searched the home.
When they returned to the garage, Dickinsen told the two other men to leave, since they were not involved. Dickinsen eventually left the home when he heard sirens.
A deputy arriving on the scene saw a man get onto a motorcycle and drive away. Another deputy reported that as he got closer to the scene, he saw a man standing next to a motorcycle that had crashed.
The male was identified as Dickinsen who admitted to having a firearm when asked by the deputy if he had any weapons. A search of Dickinsen found a firearm and ammunition.
Dickinsen was put into a squad car while deputies responded to the situation at the home. When the deputy returned to the car, Dickinsen was asleep and the deputy smelled intoxicants.
Dickinsen woke up, only responding with mumbles and head nods. His eyes were watery and bloodshot. The deputy arrested Dickinsen for OWI. Surveillance video from the home reviewed by a detective showed Dickinsen entering without permission.
Dickinsen was yelling and looking for one of the tenants of the home, who was not there at the time. He kicked in the door of the bathroom, entered a garage/office area, and pointed a gun at a man’s face, telling him to turn off the camera. The video ended there.
