Wood County Deputy Matthews, Wood County Correction Officers L. Aprill, L. Haga, and T. Mosser, along with 8 other area law enforcement agencies, and members of the Stevens Point Fire Department completed Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training.
This is a specialized program designed to enhance the Department’s response to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. This marks class #14 held in Wood County.
CIT training equips deputies with tools and strategies to recognize signs of mental illness, de-escalate tense situations, and connect individuals with the appropriate resources.
This initiative strengthens the Department’s commitment to serving and protecting the community with compassion, understanding, and professionalism.
The Department is proud of their team for their dedication to continued learning and for taking important steps toward safer, more supportive outcomes for all.
