-The dog of one of the victims in the fatal crash on Highway M in Clark County was the only survivor from Thursday?s incident.Mary Malinowski?s dog, Dukie, was discovered as the Clark County Sheriff?s Department began to remove her vehicle from the crash.
The 24-year-old Malinowski had been traveling home to her parents' house in Thorp when she drove into a 15-foot-deep washout, following a couple from Milwaukee who had driven into the same washout earlier. All three died.
Dukie suffered some scratches to his face, and one of his hind legs was shattered in the crash. The sheriff's department took him to Grassland Veterinary Services in Granton.
Dukie?s leg was removed on Monday and he is recovering and should be able to go home on Wednesday.
The dog will be going home with a family member of Malinowski and a fund has been set up to help the family pay for the surgery.
