-Prosecutors say that money is the reason Dennis and Merna Koula are dead.Eric Koula, a Neillsville graduate, is accused of killing his parents in May, 2010.
Prosecutors say Koula shot his parents hoping their inheritance would bail him out of his financial difficulties.
Koula began explaining his relationships, both personal and financial, with his parents and stated he had a very close relationship with them.
He also had business dealing with his father. Dennis Koula owned, and then sold, a car dealership in West Salem. Dennis gave Eric $550,000 when the business sold. Eric also had in interest in an extended car warranty insurance business that closed for which Dennis paid Eric another $225,000.
Koula then worked from home as a day trader, but by 2009, the majority of his money was gone.
