-Eric Koula offered a receipt for his trial that helps his alibi. He volunteered a receipt verifying a 6:15 p.m. purchase for a $15.99 hanging plant at the Onalaska Shopko, but he didn?t provide ones for stops at a Walmart or a supper club for dinner that evening.
That was the alibi Eric Koula gave to authorities for the afternoon of his parents death.
La Crosse County sheriff?s deputy Daren Schieldt testified, that Koula was hysterical and inconsolable after calling 911.
Dennis Koula was face-down in the kitchen still holding his truck keys and his wife was at the home office computer.
Investigators found a .22-caliber bolt-action rifle, ammunition and a gun cleaning kit in an upstairs bedroom closet. A state Crime Laboratory specialist will testify later in the trial if the gun had been fired.
During times when pictures were shown of his parent body, Eric looked away or even appeared to be crying.
