Rapids Man Sentenced to 21 Months in Prison

-A Wisconsin Rapids man has been sentenced to 21 months in prison after pleading not guilty to stealing nearly $80,000 worth of items from Wal-Mart.Robert Moran, age 42, was convicted in February. He was accused of stealing from Wal-Mart stores in Marshfield, Plover, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids between 2009 and 2010.
Prosecutors say he tried to sell the stolen items using his sister's eBay account.
According to reports the items were said to be worth a total of $78,443.
Moran requested a minimal sentence, but federal Judge William Conley rejected the request.
Conley noted the high dollar value of the stolen goods and called Moran a "lifelong thief" with six prior convictions for theft and burglary.
