Volunteers Honored at Memorial Medical Center Banquet
Friday, April 20th, 2012 -- 10:20 AM
-On April 16, Memorial Medical Center held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet, honoring members of the Auxiliary, Partners, and Gift Shoppe. In total, Memorial benefits from the year-round efforts of 83 volunteers.?Our volunteers give more of their time than many of us realize, and that?s something this banquet brings to light. We tend to notice the bigger events that each group orchestrates, but as with many organizations, the daily ?blood, sweat, and tears? is what makes these groups remarkable,? commented Candy Marg, Volunteer Services Coordinator.
Leaders from all three groups paid tribute to the accomplishments of their members. Dee Steuber, vice president of the Auxiliary, made note of the pediatric exam table, Panda infant warmer, new chairs for lab patients, and new hospital bed spreads & curtains their group donated to Memorial Medical Center in 2011.
Marcia Lewis, president of the Partners, spoke on the group?s successful events, including Lights of Love, book fairs, and a basket raffle.
Finally, Dianne Lindner, Gift Shoppe Manager, highlighted the number of hours of Shoppe volunteers gave.
Bobbe Teigen, Bob Barth, and Dr. Tim Meyer all expressed their gratitude to the groups, acknowledging that the strength of MMC is certainly not exclusive to the physicians and staff, but also lies in the ongoing dedication of volunteers.
Receiving applause for being the volunteer with the most years served was Lorraine Flynn at 24 years of service.
