Thursday, April 19th, 2012 -- 10:23 AM
-A new Wisconsin law providing for permanent registration and updated regulation of utility terrain vehicles will go into effect on July 1.According to the Wisconsin Ag Connection, any UTVs registered during the pilot program will continue to be registered with the previously assigned registration identification number and registration period.
Utility terrain vehicles by definition are low-speed motor driven devices like dune buggies, mini-trucks, or tracked vehicles designed to be used primarily off highway.
As part of the new law, UTVs will follow nearly all the ATV laws, except where specifically referenced. They must have a specific UTV decal and be driven by operators at least 16 years of age.
