National Library Week
Monday, April 9th, 2012 -- 8:43 AM
-This week is National Library week.If you haven?t had an opportunity to enjoy all the wonderful programs, books, and other items at the Neillsville Library, Joanne Gustafson says you?re missing out.
Joanne explained the library's new V-Cat system. This cataloging system allows the Neillsville library to reach out to other libraries in Clark County, and other counties, for books they may not have. Joanne said, "We get the books from another library, order it for you, and, when it arrives, we call you and let you know your book is in."
Joanne said that every patron gets a new library card with this system.
She also said, "We received seven new computers with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation computer grants." Some of the computers are used for internet purposes while others are used as simple word processors.
She then went on to explain the Summer Reading program and the benefits of the program. "Kids just read throughtout the summer. And they have incentives if they read a certain number of books. They can get coupons for items at Pizza Hut, the bowling alley, etc."
Joanne elaborated on many other great things at the library, but you'll have to stop in and ask about them.
The Neillsville Library is open Monday and Wednesday 10:00-8:00, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 10:00-5:00, and Saturday 9:00-12:00.
