-Marshfield Clinic is building an $18 million facility in Stevens Point. Leaders there say it's set to open in 2014.According to WAOW, Marshfield Clinic leaders say it's a move five years in the making.
"We've had a long standing history of having our physicians travel to Stevens Point to provide service," Marshfield Clinic President Brian Ewert said.
Ewert just announced plans to build an $18 million facility in Stevens Point. Ewert says it's a decision that makes sense, because more than 17 percent of residents in Portage County are Marshfield Clinic patients.
"We've been scattered across the town or located in rental space," Ewert said.
The new clinic will sit just north of the Stevens Point Airport. Construction is set to start at the end of the year. Ewert says the facility will also have room for expansion if that's needed.
The Marshfield Clinic currently leases space at Ministry St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point.
