Winter Strikes Back; Make Sure You're Prepared

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021 -- 10:04 AM

There’s no doubt that this winter season in Wisconsin has been a mild one.

But all that’s about to change starting tonight.  Starting tonight we could see a mix of snow, freezing rain in sleet move into the area.  That will continue tomorrow as snow continues to push through, potentially bringing 3 to 7 inches of the wet stuff.

A winter storm watch has been issued for the area from 3am early Thursday morning until 6am Friday morning.  That snow will taper off into tomorrow night, but then the cold will follow.  A polar vortex will extend into the area bringing high temperatures that will struggle to get into the single digits and frigid wind chills.

In a recent interview with John Ross, Clark County’s Emergency Management Director, he reminds everyone to be informed about the weather and the conditions around you.  Make sure the vent for your heat source is clear of snow and ice to avoid any build up of carbon monoxide.

Don’t use things like ovens or grills to add heat to your home.  Make sure you have an emergency kit at home and in your vehicle if you’re traveling.  The kit should include things like food and water, blankets, flashlights, shovels, phone chargers and more.
