Reason Behind Major Winter Storm

Monday, February 27th, 2012 -- 8:24 AM

-We?ve had a very calm and mild winter this year; however, confidence is growing that a very powerful storm system will bring us our worst winter event beginning Tuesday and some people are wondering why.

According to WEAU, an upper level trough is diving down in the southwest US, and as it pulls out of the Rockies, it will develop a low pressure center in Colorado. It will strengthen very quickly on Tuesday and will pull up a wealth of moisture straight from the Gulf of Mexico.

Depending on exactly where you are will depend on what kind of weather you?ll see. But there are chances of snow, sleet, rain, and it could be very windy as well. This could cause dangerous blizzard condition and blowing and drifting snow.

The storm could last into Wednesday and we could see 4 to 8 inches of heavy wet snow. Many Wisconsin counties are under a Winter Storm watch including Clark County. If you are out and about on Tuesday or Wednesday, please be cautious.
