-A Marshfield Police Department investigation of a possible child abduction attempt revealed that a group of children were throwing snowballs after school Monday, which angered a man whose vehicle was hit by a snowball."This was not an attempted abduction," said Police Chief Gary Jepsen. A man stopped his vehicle after it was hit by a snowball and got out of the car. He yelled at the boys who ran from the site, Jepsen said. "He stopped his car to tell them to stop it, and yelled at them to come to his car and they ran away.
"The one boy who had become scared because of the situation and thought he was chased by the man reported it," Jepsen said. The incident happened on East Eighth Street between Vine and Chestnut avenues.
Officers haven't identified the man but have talked with several of the boys involved, Jepsen said. The group of boys was walking from the Marshfield Middle School and throwing snowballs, he said.
"We know this individual was perhaps angered or concerned about the behavior of some young students," Jepsen said.
