Mining Debate Continues

-The mining committee continued to discuss various issues.The committee met on Feb. 10th, and discussed Frac sand mining and if it should be brought into the area. Discussions included the process of digging the holes for the mine and the proper procedure used to get the sand.
Frac sand mining does exist in Clark County, but it is in the middle of a forest so the infrastructure is not present to transport machinery needed to extract the sand. The Forestry Department has not gotten involved in the discussion yet, but could once a final decision is made. For the time being the matters are between the Mining Committee and the Planning and Zoning Department.
Much was talked about, but no clear decision was made. Another meeting was scheduled for March 21st.
