Possible Chimney Fire

-The Neillsville area fire department was dispatched to a possible chimney fire on Sunday.They were dispatched to 824 East Second Street at 7:26 pm Sunday evening and were on scene for 40 minutes. When they arrived they found the basement filled with smoke, but there was no fire. The problem appeared to be caused by a malfunctioning damper in the chimney system.
The fire was removed from the fire place and there was no sign of fire or smoke damage and the resident is going to have the chimney system repaired.
