Greenwood Water Repairs

Friday, February 10th, 2012 -- 1:02 PM

-The Greenwood City Council considers $343,000 dollars in water treatment upgrade.

The City Council listened to an engineer?s proposal to install a $343,750 groundwater reservoir treatment system. Using this system would allow the city to resume using three wells that the DNR told them to pull off line because of potential surface water contamination.

Larry Gotham, an engineer of Morgan & Parmley Ltd, of Ladysmith, said the city does need the treatment option. Gotham also said the city needs the three off line wells as they were being pumped to the maximum last year when a dairy plant was running near capacity.

The city would need to fill out an application for the upgrade and Gotham recommend it should be done by June 30th. He also said that the application would be ranked number one because off the three offline wells and the DNR required them to do it.
