(Neillsville, Wis.) Over a decade after a Medford hunter was shot in Clark County, the Sheriff?s Department says they have new details about a vehicle that was spotted the area that day.James Southworth, 37, was shot twice in the back while hunting alone on family property in the Town of Lynn on November 23, 2001.
Detective Kerry Kirn says they recently received additional information about the truck that was seen parked near where Southworth?s body was found.
"That truck may have had a white hood, which is a different color than the rest of the truck. In addition, the witness thought the hub cap had a Chevy emblem on it," Kirn explains.
That truck was initially described as a silver, gray or off-white Nissan or Chevy S-10 with a light-colored fiberglass topper.
Kirn says the new information came to light after the witness read a news article.
"The individual contacted the Sheriff's Department as a result of reading an article on the case investigation. Realized the case was still open and being worked on thought he should pass the information on to law enforcement," Kirn says.
Witnesses also reported seeing three Asian males near the truck.
Kirn says he still thinks about the case a lot and works on it at least once a month.
There is still a $50,000 reward offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the shooting of James Southworth.
