Area Ballots Take Shape

The filing deadline for the Spring Elections is Tuesday, January 3.

Here?s a rundown of some of the local elections shaping up.

In Neillsville, Mayor Dewey Poeschel is up for reelection. He has returned his papers and will be on the ballot in April. Council member Steve Mabie has taken out papers to run for the position, but has not returned them yet.

4th Ward Alderman Dale Berger is not seeking reelection. Joe Neville has filed papers to seek that position. 3rd Ward Alderman Jerry Quicker will also seek reelection. No one else has filed.

In the City of Greenwood, 1st Ward Alderperson Mary Domanico and 2nd Ward Alderperson Jim Horn have returned their papers and will seek reelection. Mayor Jim Schecklman plans to run for reelection and was expected to return his nomination papers Thursday, according to City Hall personnel. No one else has filed declarations of candidacy.
In Loyal's Ward 2, Jim Batchelor, Nathan Hauge and Tom Bobrofsky are up for reelection. Batchelor and Bobrofsky have returned their papers. Hauge has not. In Ward 1, Al Tesch has filed a Declaration of Non-Candidacy and incumbent Tim Froeba has taken out papers, but not returned them. No new candidates have come forward for those positions.

The Neillsville School Board has two positions up for election. Dewey Poeschel and Rick Opelt have both returned their papers. As of Thursday, no other candidates have come forward.
