MONTANA MAN CHARGED IN DEATH OF BLACK RIVER FALLS MAN

Saturday, December 10th, 2011 -- 7:32 AM

A Montana man faces 30 years in prison for rear-ending a pickup truck in Great Falls in June, killing a Black River Falls man and injuring the driver.

Loren Spottedeagle of Great Falls pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide while under the influence and criminal endangerment charges in October. He was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison with 10 suspended for the death and a consecutive 10 years for the endangerment charge.

Police reports say Spottedeagle was driving between 50 and 70 mph at the time of the crash and had been drinking alcohol most of the day. His blood alcohol level was 0.30.

He had three previous Misdemeanor DUI convictions before the crash that killed 23 year old Jason Jowett of Black River Falls.
