Medford Man Charged For Crash That Killed Girlfriend

A 31-year-old Medford man was charged this week with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle for his role in a crash that happened over one year ago.According to the criminal complaint, Jesse Schellinger ran a stop sign on CTH P and crashed into the back of a semi on STH 29 early in the morning of November 8th, 2010.
Schellinger's girlfriend, 34-year-old Lisa Hart, also of Medford, was killed in the crash.
Schellinger was seriously injured in the crash.
Schellinger and Hart both worked at Grassland Dairy near Greenwood and were celebrating Schellinger's birthday after work. Investigators found empty beer bottles in the vehicle and tests showed Schellinger's blood-alcohol level was .122, about four-tenths above the legal limit.
An initial appearance has been scheduled for January 6.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of $100,000 in fines and 25 years in prison.
