Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011 -- 2:29 PM
For the 20th year in a row, a Neillsville church is set to offer a Thanksgiving meal for dozens of area residents.United Methodist Church will again host their Thanksgiving dinner Thursday at noon.
Organizers expect to serve between 150 to 200 people.
"We do 12, 20 lbs. birds," explains Kathy Brugger, one of the organizers of the event. "We spent (Wednesday) morning cleaning them all and getting them all ready. The birds will go into the cookers (Thursday) morning at around 6 a.m."
"By 10 a.m., we'll start carving them."
30 volunteers take time out of their holiday to help.
Brugger says the feast began as a way to help members of their congregation who didn?t have anyone to spend the holiday with, but it expanded to serve others in the community.
"We have a lot of people that look forward to (the meal) and being able to spend time with friends and neighbors from the community," Brugger says. "I've had several people asking, 'You're going to do the dinner again, aren't you?' They look forward to the opportunity."
The meal is free, but freewill donations are accepted. If you have questions, you can contact Kathy Brugger at 715-743-4713.
